‘Everybody Matters, Every Moment Counts’
Art
Pupils are encouraged to develop the practical skills of observation and visual investigation through a wide range of media including drawing, painting and sculpture. They will be taught to develop their techniques, including their control and their use of materials, with creativity and experimentation. Alongside skills, the history of art is taught to promote an appreciation of a variety of artistic traditions as well as being a source of pleasure.
We aim to engage, inspire and challenge puils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.
Pupils will learn about great artists, designers and craft makers, they will also learn how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
Sketch books will be used in school for pupils to record their observations and use them to review and revisit ideas.
We are also fortunate to have our own kiln and dedicated ceramics/clay area for producing 3 dimensional clay work, in addition to a separate art room for other aspects of art work.
