This section covers the main areas of special educational needs, giving a brief description of each, and contains resources to provide parents with additional advice and support and to help your child’s learning to continue out of school .

Please note that external advice and support will have been sought prior to a diagnosis being given.

Speech and Language

Problems with speech and language are the most common developmental difficulty that children encounter. Speech difficulties may be receptive (ability to understand what is being said) or expressive (ability to communicate clearly).
